Machine Pitch Baseball (League Age 6 - 7)
Machine Pitch Baseball is a beginner's division for boys and girls who want to
learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding, but have graduated out of Tee Ball.
Coaches utilize pitching machines to pitch to the players in this division,
NO PLAYER PITCH. Rules of the game are modified to accommodate the need for teaching.
The primary goals of Machine Pitch are to instruct children in the fundamentals of hitting a
live pitch and continuing the fundamentals of fielding.
Team Information
Machine pitch teams have approximately 10-11 players. LLL randomizes teams the best we can based on age and experience.
Team Practice
Machine Pitch teams begin practicing in mid-April. There will be 2-4 preseason practices; these may fall on any day during the week. Once the season begins, the normal practice day for this division is Saturday. Practices will run 1.5 hour in length.
Team Games
Machine Pitch teams play 2 game per week, on Monday & Wednesday evenings (12 total). Games start at 6:30 and run 1.5 hour in length. Games are scheduled against other LLL teams and also teams outside of LLL. There is some travel required (Milan). Games are scheduled from late April through early June and are played at Cloverleaf Fields. In case of a cancellation due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the game as soon as possible.
Uniform and Equipment
Each player will receive a jersey, hat, and pants, which they may keep after the season. Each player needs to bring their own glove to practice and games. The League provides each team with a bat, balls, catchers gear, and helmets, although it is encouraged for players to bring their own bat and helmet if possible. Plastic cleats are not required, but recommended.
