Major Baseball (League Age 10 - 12)
The Little League Baseball Division is also known as the Major Division. Majors is a competitive division, and assessments are held before each season to determine placement on a majors team. After all players are evaluated on draft day, coaches draft teams. Attendance on draft day is not required but recommended. Draft is tentatively scheduled for the end of March.
Team Information
Major teams may have from 12 to 15 players. The selection of players for the teams in Major must comply with the Little League Draft Selection System. This is done to ensure a competitive balance among the teams. LLL does not accept requests to play with friends or a specific coach.
Team Practice
Major teams begin practicing in about mid-April. There will be 2-4 preseason practices; these may fall on any day during the week. Once the season begins, the normal practice day for this division is Saturday. Practices will run 2 hours in length.
Team Games
Major teams play 2 game per week, on Monday & Wednesday evenings (12-13 total). Games start at 6:30 and run 1.5 - 2 hours in length. Plate umpires and Field umpires are used at this level. Games are scheduled against other LLL teams and teams outside of LLL. Some travel is required (Milan & Ypsilanti). Games are scheduled from late April through early June and home games are played at Cloverleaf Fields. In case of a cancellation due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the game as soon as possible.
Uniform and Equipment
Each player will receive a jersey, hat, and pants, which they may keep after the season. Each player needs to bring their own glove to practice and games. The League provides each team with a bat, balls, catchers gear, and helmets, although it is encouraged for players to bring their own bat and helmet if possible. Plastic cleats are not required, but highly recommended.
