Junior Baseball (League Age 12-14)
Junior Baseball is for boys and girls who want to continue to hone their craft. This is where players make the jump to a full size field with 60'-6" mound and 90' basepath. This division follows official Little League rules. The primary goals of Junior Baseball are to continue the progression of honing skills and prepare players to play on school teams, while preaching teamwork and fun. Generally there are not enough participants to hold a draft.
Team Information
Junior team is approximately 11-14 players. If necessary, the selection of players for the teams
in Junior Baseball must comply with the Little League Draft Selection System. This is
done to ensure a competitive balance among the teams. LLL does not accept requests
to play with friends or for a specific coach.
Team Practice
Junior team begin practicing in about mid-April. There will be 2-4 preseason practices; these may fall on any day during the week. Once the season begins, the normal practice day for this division is Saturday. Practices will run 2 hours in length.
Team Games
Junior team play 2 game per week, which can take place any day of the week. Scheduling is based on availability of other leagues in our district (12-13 total). Games start at 6:30 and run 1.5 - 2 hours in length. Plate and Field umpires are used. Games are scheduled against other teams in our district (District 3) Some travel is required. Games are scheduled from late April through early June and home games are played at Cloverleaf Fields. In case of a cancellation due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the game as soon as possible.
Uniform and Equipment
Each player will receive a jersey, hat, and pants, which they may keep after the season. Each player needs to bring their own glove to practice and games. The League provides each team with a bat, balls, catchers gear, and helmets, although it is encouraged for players to bring their own bat and helmet if possible. Plastic and/or metal cleats are required.
